ummm, maybe he was needed in more than one position? i played OG in 10th grade and i weighed 165lbs, i also played some tight end, WR, half back<---(mostly) and hell even a single back and blocking back role. and dear lord lets not even get into defense, let me tell ya, i thought at times i could have carried the ball and done pretty well, but i absolutely loved obliterating a linebacker and watching stephen grimes come right behind me for 5-6 yards.
if you love this game, you dont care where you play at, you just play your ass off and do the best you can. you going to tell me that tom turner didnt know the game of football because he had to move us around some?
Cant we all just get along?

Chris Crabtree is a good, honest man. I don't blame him for not letting his transfers lift weights in the Wildcats weight room. The man had to put up with so much crap at Pound. I've heard stories where kids would quit after ball games because they felt like they didn't get to carry the ball enough. Then have to put up with parents coming in the locker room and attack him. It's a joke! You can't blame Chris for wanting to resign.

OK..here's how it is. Chris has caught hell on this board for a long time, but he's not where the problem in the Lb. lies. I've known Chris for about 20 years, and I'm also VERY familiar with what the situation in Pound is. Ibeawildcat, your posts on this thread are more than enough to let folks that read 'em realize that it's folks like you that are the problem with the football program up there. It's folks like you that feel like they have to have their noses stuck in the hiring and firing of coaches up there. It's folks like you that sit and whine beacause the Lb. can't field a very good football team. And you whine and biotch without realizing that it's folks like you that create the lil' prima donnas (who most of the time would be lucky to play much less start anywhere else in the district) who are so detrimental to the program. In football, you can't have 4-5 dedicated kids, you have to have a whole team of 'em. And 1 ego on a team is 1 too many. Combine that element with more than a few fans who think they know football, but actually don't know much of anything except how to jack their jaws around town, and you have a subversion. Combine that with poor fundamental coaching at the P-Nut level and a school administration that bends to the local politics and you have a program just like Pound's. Folks can like or dislike Chris...but that's not what this is all about. It would be hard for anyone to have much more success in that environment than he had...I'll give him that. So, he didn't pet and pamper his players....while that might **** you off, I see that as an asset. So he didn't kiss a$$ to get kids not to transfer to other schools...again, I see that as an asset as well...if every player's heart isn't in line with the team, you don't need those kids. Regardless of how good they are, you can't build a program with that hanging over your head. He may not have done things the way a lot of other folks would, but he did fairly well trying to rebuild a foundation for a successful program IMO. You guys were lucky to even have him tho...I know a couple of coaches who showed interest in that job at the time and subsequently sabotaged themselves after being introduced to the administration and the climate around that program at that time....and it seems nothing has changed. So, I guess Rocky needs to put his money where his mouth is and volunteer to coach 'em for free...show us how it's done...lol...ibeawilcat can call the defense.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

So that's what you have against him....you stuck your nose where it didn't belong and he stood up to ya...good for him..that's another asset IMO.

Coach Crabtree may have not been Tom Landry or Bear Bryant, but he put his heart into coaching. But the best thing about him is that he is a very good teacher. Ask any of his students. Please. :flagwaver:

Chris is smarter with x's and o's than you think. He is one of the best offensive line coaches around. Great all-round offensive minds in this region. He just needed players to execute his game plans.

Chris Crabtree is a class guy. He will arise out of this difficulty and still have respect from the ones who matter.
